28 day Wonder-wall challenge
Are you someone that has always dreamed of playing the guitar?
Are you beginning to feel that your dream of playing guitar will never be realised?
Do you close your eyes when listening to a guitar solo and imagine it’s you playing?
Maybe you even bought a guitar once but now it’s just a dusty reminder of your unfulfilled dream
Would you like your guitar playing dreams to become a reality?
If any of the above resonates then this challenge is for you. So many people start something and then never see it through. This challenge is designed to make sure that doesn’t happen. A very definite end goal and support throughout the challenge, this is exactly what you need to finally realise your guitar playing dream.
Why Wonderwall? It’s current due to Oasis reuniting, it’s achievable in 28 days, it’s recognisable to other people and it’s easy to measure your own progress with it. Even if you don’t like Oasis or this song it doesn’t really matter. It’s your entry into playing the guitar. A lot of the skills you need to play any song will be learned from playing this one.
Is it going to be easy? No not really, but the way the course is set out and the support you get means that doesn’t matter. However if you don’t do any practice you won’t be able to play anything. It’s not magic. There are plenty of videos on YouTube showing you how to play the chords to wonder-wall and I’m pretty sure what I show you won’t be much different.
The big difference is everything that goes with it. The process, the support, tips on how to make progress quickly and the insight into knowing what the biggest challenges are. The 20 years plus of guitar teaching and experiences of why people give up and how to ensure you don’t. That’s what will help you succeed.
Everything you need to complete the Wonderwall challenge is included. There are 4 pre-recorded lessons spread out weekly so you can’t cheat and jump ahead. 3 live Q and A sessions every week. These will give you the opportunity to not only have your questions answered but get any support you need. They will be recorded and you will be able to ask questions in advance so if you can’t make it live that’s all covered. All the music and handouts you need to play Wonderwall are there too. There are also bonus videos available before the challenge starts explaining how to get ready. Guitar acquisition, tuning, practising and general tips for success.

What’s included
-
4 x recorded lessons
4 lessons released weekly to walk you through everything you need to know to play Wonderwall. This won’t just be music and a few how to’s. It will be a complete guide covering everything from productive practise to attitude and mindset.
-
Q and A 3 x a week
This is possibly the most valuable part of the challenge. Live Q and A to help you through any problems you come across. It is this that often stops people being able to learn anything effectively on line. No one to ask questions to, no one to support you and no one to hold you to account.
-
All music and handout sheets
All the music and handout sheets you need to complete the challenge. There are also bonus videos covering getting a guitar, tuning your guitar, ways to get the most from your practice and tips on how to keep going and complete the challenge.
FAQs
Why do I need your course? I can just learn it on youtube.
This is true, however if you’re reading this you haven’t learnt it on you tube. The “how to play” section of this course is really only the beginning. It’s the “how to keep going” part that’s so important and the part that’s missing from teaching yourself. There are almost daily live Q and A sessions to keep you motivated and make sure nothing is stopping you. This also adds an element of accountability.
Will I really be able to play Wonderwall in just 28 days?
As long as you practice and put the effort in you should be able to play along to the song and maybe even accompany yourself/someone singing. It’s not magic though. You’ll need to work hard.
What equipment will I need?
ou will need a guitar. It can be electric or acoustic. You can often pick them up on market place or free-cycle for very reasonable prices. If you can borrow one that’s great too. If you want to invest in yourself and buy one? Even better.
You will need a guitar tuner. It can be an app on your phone or a physical tuner. Tuning to another instrument or pitch pipes is not ideal.
A plectrum. This is for strumming the strings with. Capos (see below) often come with plectrums on Amazon
A capo. This is a clip that fits to your guitar and allows you to play in different keys using the same chord shapes.
The capo and tuner can be bought online for less than £15. Probably even less if you get a tuning app.
Something to watch the videos on. Phone is fine but something with a bigger screen is probably better.
What software will I need
All the video lessons will be in the membership area so nothing extra needed for those. The live Q and A sessions will be mainly on Zoom but also possibly on the private FB group, depending on numbers and accessibility. All recordings of the live Q and A sessions will be in the membership area.
Do I need to attend the live sessions to get my questions answered?
No. You can send any questions in to the chat area or on the FB group. I will answer them all on the live session and you can watch the recording at your leisure.
How much will I need to practice
I recommend at least 15 minutes a day. It’s better to practice regularly for less time than every so often for a long time. There is a special video all about practising plus regular help during the live Q and A
How much is it?
£39
When does it start?
It starts on Saturday 1st March 2025 and finishes on Friday 28th March 2025.
Can I have a refund if I can’t play Wonderwall by the end of the challenge?
No, however if you really do think that it’s not what I said it was you are entitled to a full refund.
Why choose me?
My name’s Lucas Cook and I’ve been a guitar teacher for over 25 years. Throughout that time I’ve also performed, toured, written and recorded but I’ve always come back to teaching because I love doing it so much.
Throughout this time one thing has always stood out to me.
The amount of people that I met that had gone through life wishing they had picked up a guitar and never did.
They always said they didn’t have time and they’re still saying the same thing now.
That’s really sad.
So many people are missing out on a life changing journey simply because they've decided they don’t have time. Well they have and I can help them.
And if that’s you I can help you too.

Everyone has a moment in their life that leads them to do the work they do now. An “aha” moment if you like. This is mine.
It was 15 years ago and I was at Nashville airport, I had just finished recording an album after a tour of the US but there was a huge problem. The band I was in was falling apart. We had no idea if the album would actually get released, no idea what would happen if it did or didn’t and no idea if we’d ever play together again. I thought “Hmmm, maybe I should focus on teaching guitar for a bit.”
I never looked back. I rediscovered my passion for helping people achieve their dream of playing the guitar and I put everything into it. I studied for a music teaching Licentiate, I worked in different schools, I increased the amount of private students I had, started music clubs, basically did everything I could to widen my teaching experience. I became obsessed with progress and how I could help people achieve it. And that’s where I am now. Using my teaching and musical experience to help people make progress in something that they have always dreamed of doing. It’s a pretty good job if you ask me. I am also still in a band and still get to play my guitar so winners all around.
Don’t just dream it.
Dreams are so important to all of us but there comes a time when we need to act on them or that is all they'll ever be.
Very few of us regret trying to reach our dream but so many regret not realising them.
If your dream is to learn the guitar I can help you.
If you're telling yourself you are not musical, ignore it.
If you are telling yourself it's too late, ignore that too.
None of us are experts in things we can't do so our advice to ourselves is not valid. What we are experts in is talking ourselves out of starting things that we may fail at or we may find hard. We don't need to be anything to follow our dreams other than brave.
Join the challenge now and I’ll see you on January the 3rd
Don’t just take my word for it

“Lucas has been teaching me guitar, periodically, for more than ten years now, steadily improving both my playing and my passion for playing. His latest initiative, involving a well-considered needs-analysis followed by a pair of very focused online sessions for £99, enabled me to turn a jumbled idea for a song into a sharply executed piece of music. If you have a guitar laying around unused, as I did ten years ago, and need someone to help spark your original desire back into life, then I can highly recommend Lucas Cook!”

“I’ve always harboured a desire to play an instrument, but up until recently, this has always been a pipe dream, or bucket list item. I did buy an acoustic guitar around 15 years ago to accompany me on my then, regular away-from-home work trips, but sadly the guitar spent more time in my car boot, than it did in my actual hands. Eventually it was consigned to the spare room and was gradually forgotten about, until I received a gift voucher at Christmas, for Lucas' intensive guitar course. I’d never heard of Lucas, but this was not surprising as we lived at the opposite ends of the country and I’d never even considered, looking for a one-on-one online guitar coach. To say the very least, I was very apprehensive and nervous, as the thought of picking up my guitar, as a complete beginner, not even knowing how to tune the damn thing, sent shivers down my spine. Finally I plucked up the courage to redeem my voucher and start my journey at the ripe old age of 44, and I’ve not looked back. The intensive course started with initial correspondence including a brief form for me to complete, to help provide Lucas with a picture of who I was, what level I was at, where I wanted to go and what music I liked. Following this Lucas organised a welcome session, for us to break the ice and for Lucas to talk me through and schedule the next 3 intensive courses, over the space of 7 days. Lucas selected a tune from my list of favourite bands and started what seemed to me, to be the arduous task of taking me from ground zero, up to being able to play a recognizable version of the song. This included helping me ensure my guitar was in tune, showing me how to read tab sheets and play basic chords, explaining all major components of the Guitar and building me competence up in the tune, chord by chord. Most of all though, he motivated me throughout the entire course to want to be able to play the guitar and get better. Coaching consisted of one-on-one Zoom sessions, direct WhatsApp support and Facebook live recordings, where Lucas answered questions and provided a recap of my session with him. I found this approach most useful, as it was a great reminder of what was covered in the Zoom session and also provided something to practise along to. I must say that from the off, Lucas was brilliant. He is extremely friendly and listened to my concerns, he has a great dry sense of humour, and his key focus was to make me a better guitar player, even at the detriment to himself….. He is also an awesomely talented guitarist, but equally so down to earth and approachable. I loved my intense course so much, that I’ve now signed up for ongoing lessons and added an electric guitar to my repertoire. If you’re thinking of learning the guitar, or need that motivation to start or improve, then honestly you won’t find better than Lucas.”

“Since starting to learn guitar with Lucas just under a year ago my daughters ability and confidence has grown immensely. Music is a massive part of her life and being able to play helps her deal with all the stresses life and school throws her way. After much encouragement from Lucas she has even started a band. Whether you want to fulfil your dreams of becoming a rockstar or just a new hobby Lucas is your man.”

Lucas teaches my daughter the guitar with nothing but positivity, encouragement, interest, patience and humour all in a really relaxed way. She loves her lessons and learning to play the guitar because of it. Amazing teacher!

I had dusty, unloved guitars in the loft and dreamt of playing them even semi-proficiently. I recognised myself in Lucas’s intense guitar course advertisement and signed up. Now the guitars are no longer dusty and they hang on the wall in pride of place, within easy reach should I wish to play them, which I now often do. Thanks for reminding me why I wanted to learn guitar in the first place. I highly recommend this intensive 1-1 Zoom course for kickstarting any simmering guitar-playing aspirations.

The £99 intensive starter course has got me hooked on playing and practising the guitar again, which I’d avoided for the past 10 years. Lucas doesn’t just know how to teach but vitally he knows how to ensure that practising isn’t a hard finger bleeding slog and I’m well on the way to unleashing my ‘inner Muddy Waters’.
